PeriAcryl Additional Information
PeriAcryl ® 90HV (high viscosity) is a cyanoacrylate adhesive dressing that is useful in oral surgery. This formulation is designed to perform specifically in the oral cavity. PeriAcryl ® 90HV is an ideal blend of n-butyl cyanoacrylate and 2-octyl cyanoacrylate that has the perfect set of properties to function on soft tissue. The n-butyl cyanoacrylate contributes the fast-setting characteristic to PeriAcryl ® 90HV while the 2-octyl component makes the dressing flexible and more comfortable. GluStitch designed PeriAcryl ® 90 High Viscosity, a thicker formulation to provide more control during application. This new product is 9 times thicker than the original PeriAcryl®90 formulation and has the same strength and durability characteristics that specialists have come to rely on.
Periacryl is often used to:
- Secure sutures, or in lieu of sutures in specific perio surgeries.
- Protect and stabilize membranes, or as a sealing and supporting agent for socket preservation.
- Cover collagen plugs post-extraction.
- Dress donor and/or recipient sites.

"N-butyl cyanoacrylate is an effective tissue adhesive which is hemostatic and bacteriostatic. It can be considered an alternative to conventional sutures in soft-tissue surgery...I have found cyanoacrylate to be useful in several other periodontal surgery applications. These include post-gingivectomy, gingivoplasty and tooth extraction; securing apically positioned flaps; and following ridge preservation procedures using osseous graft materials." "I use PeriAcryl ®90 in my practice as a routine when fixating a collagen bandage, tape or plug after tissue harvesting from the palate or for extraction site management. This is an excellent adjunct for hemostasis as well as to maintain the blood cot and minimize micro-motion of the graft area. If I am placing a collagen or PRF plug after an extraction I use PeriAcryl®90 as a liquid bandage around the margin to seal it in and it works very well. By covering a resorbable membrane with PeriAcryl®90, I can preserve the membrane and protect the graft by using it as a barrier. When performing a free gingival graft procedure, at times I will use PeriAcryl®90 to help me stabilize the graft. It usually means I use less sutures and perform the procedure faster. It's great that there is a cyanoacrylate formulated for intra oral use." Dr. Maurice Salama, DMD
